Job Description

Our client, a reputable and well established industrial processing company that operates in natural resources industry, is looking to add a 2nd Class Shift Engineer/Supervisor to their dynamic team.

Salary Target: 130k + OT

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor Shift Engineers in problem solving, and coordinate the day to day and shutdown maintenance for the Power and Recovery Department.
  • Implement effective accountabilities to lead the steam, power, recovery, chemical preparation, water treatment and effluent sections of the mill to achieve established objectives.
  • Advise and provide recommendations for Power and Recovery equipment.
  • Monitor all operational equipment and processes in area in order to operate plant as efficiently as possible.
  • Ensure crew capability to work safely is achieved by assessing key needs and supplying appropriate safety training and mentoring.
  • Demonstrate leadership with open communication and involvement with production and maintenance personnel within the operating area.
  • Coordinate daily and shutdown maintenance for the Power and Recovery Department and advise and make recommendations for Power and Recovery equipment.
  • Monitor energy consumption and recommend effective methods to reduce consumption and improve energy utilization.
  • Optimizes fuels and chemical additive proportions to ensure quality, production and cost effectiveness.

Key Requirements

  • Inter-provincial or Second Class Power Engineer Certificate.
  • Successful track record and experience with high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate the operation of the Power and Recovery Department functions as it applies to mill production processes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to respond to internal customer needs and enhance team work.
  • Demonstrated leadership in problem-solving techniques, troubleshoot and resolve technical, operation and personnel matters
